Cookie Policy
This Cookie Policy explains which cookies and similar browser storage Katalyst uses on Katalyst: our dashboard and the chat widget that businesses add to their websites.
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a website saves in your browser. Similar technologies, such as your browser's local storage, work in the same way. They let a site remember you between pages or visits.
The short version
We use only what Katalyst needs to work and to remember your choices. We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not track you across other websites.
Cookies in the dashboard
Strictly necessary
These keep you signed in and protect forms. The dashboard does not work without them, so they cannot be switched off.
- sessionid: keeps you signed in. Expires when you sign out or after two weeks.
- csrftoken: protects forms against cross-site request forgery. Expires after one year.
Preferences
- katalyst-theme (local storage): remembers whether you chose the light or dark theme. Stays until you clear it.
Storage used by the chat widget
The widget runs on the website of the business you are visiting and stores a little information in your browser, on that website, so your conversation continues as you move between pages:
- katalyst-visitor (local storage): a random ID that lets the business see that several messages come from the same visitor. It does not contain your name or contact details.
- katalyst-session-… (local storage): the conversation you are having, so it is still there on the next page.
- katalyst-nudge-… (session storage): remembers that you closed the chat invitation, until you close the tab.
The website you are visiting may use its own cookies. Its own cookie policy explains those.
Third parties
We do not allow third parties to set advertising or analytics cookies through Katalyst. If you sign in with Google, Google sets its own cookies on its sign-in pages under its own policy. Payments open on our payment provider's pages, which use their own cookies.
Managing cookies
You can delete cookies and site storage, or block them, in your browser's settings. If you block strictly necessary cookies you will not be able to sign in, and if you clear the widget's storage a chat will start over. Help pages for the most common browsers:
Do Not Track
Because we do not track you across websites, there is nothing for a Do Not Track signal to switch off.
Changes and contact
We update this policy when the cookies we use change; the date at the top shows the latest version. Questions: our support team. More about how we handle personal information is in our Privacy Policy.
